Now more than ever, people invest in a brand's story. By telling a brand story well, companies can increase the value of a product or service by over 20 times, according to a recent study.  A brand story typically inspires an emotional reaction. In contrast, traditional advertising was about showing and telling about a specific brand.

So where does one start in telling a compelling brand story? Here are 3 of my fav tips to help you do just that:



1. Establish a persona.

How you would describe your brand as a person? Bold? Wise? Witty? Building a persona to align your brand with a clear message helps to enhance your brand story. 


Followers are interested with your brand personality. It humanizes the brand and makes it more relatable. 


2. Be a work in progress.


While it's important to set yourself apart as an expert, we all know no expert is perfect. By sharing the behind the scenes, it an audience connect to the "work-in-progress" efforts of the brand. 


On Instagram, many of my photos contain my personal and professional journey of entrepreneurship. Through my posts, I try to share the highs and lows of my story. This goes for my blogs and FaceBook posts too!

3. Less "telling".


Wait, isn't the title of this article called "3 Secrets to TELLING a Compelling Brand Story"? So why is tip #3 titled "less telling"?

No one likes to be told what to do. Whether you are writing content, producing a podcast, or shooting a YouTube video, show don't tell. 

Show your actions and express your feelings instead of simply telling your audience what to do. This goes a long way as it creates a much deeper connection. 

After all, no one likes to be preached at. It also brings your ideal clients and customers closer to you. And we all know, even a few loyal followers can lead to a profitable business.
