It’s not like I go to the dentist only when when a root canal is need. I have to do my part in brushing my teeth and flossing every day.


Clearing and balancing the chakras does not happen overnight. Though there is no right or wrong way to maintain balanced chakras, it does take consistent practice.


By consistently practicing yoga principles, you can clear blocks that naturally build up through negative thoughts, feelings, unhealthy food, and so forth.


Hatha yoga: The physical practice of yoga


Hatha yoga includes asanas (postures), pranayama (breath control), mudras (hand positions), and deep relaxation. Such practices help to cleanse and strengthen the body and mind.


You don’t necessarily have to join a yoga studio to practice yoga. There are a ton of YouTube videos for beginners to advanced yogis!


Even 10-minutes of practicing any style of yoga can help you connect your breath with the body and mind.



Raja yoga: Concentration and meditation


Balancing and controlling the mind utilizing the eight limbs of yoga delineated in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. This leads ultimately to the state of samadhi, or supreme consciousness.


Can’t quite sit still? I get it. With a busy lifestyle comes a busier mind! Remember, walking meditations are just as effective. Even better, spend time walking in nature to help with grounding!


Bhakti yoga: Love and devotion


Bakti yoga focuses on prayer, kirtan, and practices that help transcend the ego. It’s not so much that the ego is bad but rather detaching from the ego can help with connecting the mind, body and spirit.


Through practices centered on love and devotion, an individual is able to achieve union with the Divine.

Karma yoga: Selfless service

Yoga poses and sequences can open and align the energy centers of the body.


A well-tuned asana practice can free up energy and stimulate imbalances in the energy centers. This provides a sense of balance, grounding, and calmness in life off the yoga mat.
