How to Cold Pitch Potential Clients Over Email: Free Template

Cold pitching potential clients can be an essential part of developing a business. For entrepreneurs starting off, it's a good way to network too. Assuming the potential client receives numerous emails each day, the email should stand out. So how do you write an email that doesn't come across salesy or spammy?

Make it concise.

A cold email is a sales email sent to a potential client who you have no prior relationship with. Thus, in order to receive a response, the email should be short and to the point.

The email should be concise starting from the subject line to the end of the email text. More importantly, it should indicate that you've done your research on the potential client.

There's no perfect formula.

Sometimes it's a matter of practice and tweaking the email along the way. Other times, the potential client just isn't ready for your services or products yet.

Trust that the ones that say "no" are just not a good fit and move on. In order to get that "yes", it's a matter of testing and editing your pitch.

Subject Line:

Studies have shown that roughly 35%-47% of recipients open an email based on the subject line alone. Also, personalized subject lines are more likely to be opened.

After all, when we are constantly bombarded with emails, notifications, and texts, it's only natural to sift through all that noise.

Less is More:

When it comes to cold emails, less is more. Sending fewer, more personalized emails generally gets better results.

Templates can be used as a starting point to help build the foundation of your cold pitches. But how you personalize it will make all the difference in receiving a response.
