Top 7 Work from Home Jobs

Want to stay in your yoga pants all day? Don’t feel like fighting rush hour traffic? I’m with ya. Over the years, I’ve come across remote job opportunities far and wide. Through first hand experience, I have enjoyed several work from home jobs.

Nonetheless, whether working remotely for a company or starting my own blog biz, there’s no shortage of work from home jobs. If you are considering working from home, here are 7 jobs that most make above the average US salary.

1. Affiliate Marketer

Interested in earning passive income? My favorite work from home job is being an affiliate marketer. Affiliate marketing is referral marketing where the marketer earns a commission.

For instance, Not A Bond Girl refers blogging related products and services of other businesses. If a reader makes a purchase through my affiliate link, I would receive a percentage of the sale.

I got started as an affiliate marketer through the a short affiliate marketing course. I learned the exact marketing strategies blogger Michelle of Making Sense of Cents used to go from $0 to over $100,000 per month on her blog.

Since I already had a blog set up, I was able to finish the course over a weekend. Within weeks of applying Michelle’s strategies, I was making passive income on my website! To learn how to start a blog or learn more about these affiliate marketing tips, check out the course here!

2. Blogger

If you like expressing yourself through writing, blogging is the way to go. Blogging allows for so much creativity and the money making opportunities are endless. Prior to focusing solely on affiliate marketing, I was blogging about personal development and wellness...and still do!

Blogging is inexpensive and easy to start. It can take as little as 5-minutes to set up a website for free. Here’s the step-by-step guide on how I set up this website through Wix.

After blogging for several months as a hobby, I became interested in learning how to monetize my website. I created my own online courses, e-books, and programs. Again, the possibilities are endless! In the end, I enjoyed affiliate marketing the most.

So keep in mind that it does take some time to start generating a decent amount of money on a blog. For some, it took several months to start making money on their website. While for others, it took several years.

If you want to become a full-time or part-time blogger, selecting a niche will greatly improve your opportunity to make a profit. Yet, there are a ton of topics to write about. Here’s how to select the right niche for you.

3. Bookkeeper

Enjoy working with numbers? Seeking independent work and job autonomy? Then consider signing up for a bookkeeping course online.

As I learned from my CPA Amy Northard, you don’t have to be a CPA to start bookkeeping. Once completing a bookkeeping certification, you can start making a start earning money.

Not sure if bookkeeping can be a career for you? Maybe you want to start your own blog business and need to stay on top of your business finances.

Consider my CPA Amy Northard’s online course, Be Your Own Creative Financial Officer. The Be Your Own CFO program includes lessons on business finances and access to a CPA throughout the year.

4. Consultant

Have experience and knowledge on a specific area? Why not share your expertise and services! Consider offering your advice to small businesses for an hourly rate or in a package.

With sites like UpWork to Slack, people are going online to find help and expertise on matters they prefer to outsource. A growing trend is hiring an individual expert as opposed to a big firm to help fix problems.

In the past, I've used UpWork and Task Rabbit to hire web developers and virtual assistants for my blog business. Overall, I’ve have had great results.

If you are going to offer your services on platforms like UpWork, consider setting up your own website so others can see your portfolio and work. Many people don’t use their website or blog to make money. Rather they use it as a resume to showcase their expertise.

Again, it can take as little as 5-minutes to set up a website for free. Here’s the step-by-step guide on how I set up this website through Wix.

Love being creative? With so many online businesses popping up left and right, so is the need for graphic design. Graphic design work can include designing a company’s logo, website, and social media ads.

If you are going to offer your design services on platforms like UpWork, consider setting up your own website so others can see your portfolio. As previously mentioned, a website is a great online resume to showcase your skill sets and expertise.
